Nearly Half of Saudi Arabian Employees Work Over 40 Hours A Week

A December report from the Saudi General Authority for Statistics finds that 46.6% of employees have been trained in health and safety procedures and 48.7% have a health and safety department in their workplace.

Nearly half (45.8%) of employees in Saudi Arabia work more than 40 hours per week, according to a recent report from the Saudi General Authority for Statistics. The report finds that 39.6% of employees work 40 hours per week, with most working eight hours each day.  

The report finds that nearly half (46.6%) of employees have been trained in health and safety procedures, and 48.7% of employees have a health and safety department in their workplace. Additionally, 59.2% of employees have access to regular medical check-ups provided by their employer.  

While on the job, employees are often standing for as long as four hours a day (28.2%), sitting in office chairs for more than three continuous hours (28.1%), and moving their upper body repeatedly for long periods of time (17.1%).  

The report also finds that 7.8% of employees in Saudi Arabia deal directly or indirectly with chemicals, medical waste, radioactive materials, or toxic gasses, with 6.3% of those employees facing risks associated with electrical equipment, machinery, or possible drowning.
