Since spinning off from IBM in 2021, Kyndryl has invested much of its energy into differentiating itself from the rest of the market. Its HR team has been pivotal to the successful transformation by establishing clear career road maps and establishing a shared language for goal setting. Over two years, Kyndryl’s HR team transformed the company’s people processes and systems to better fit the organization’s business model.
In its third year, “The Kyndryl Way” remains a foundation of employee collaboration, driving growth and enhancing the employer brand. The organization’s approach to internal workforce solutions transformed in 2023 with the launch of Kyndryl career profiles. Employees enter their skills and experiences into the profile and are then matched to assignments that support their continuous growth.
Following that, Kyndryl redesigned its staffing process to match employees to their customers. The organization also implemented “Projects,” a system that provides a full view of the workforce to help manage more than 55,000 practitioners.
In addition to “The Kyndryl Way,” the organization recently launched a global, comprehensive well-being initiative—”Be Well.” The program provides year-round, confidential counseling to employees navigating relationships, stress, and grief, including 24-hour mental health support. Throughout 2024, Kyndryl held monthly sessions for 800 executives, a virtual executive summit, and the second annual in-person leadership summit, all focused on leading employees through the company’s ongoing transformation and advancing “The Kyndryl Way.”
Through “Compass,” Kyndryl’s new performance management system, employees can establish outcomes-based performance goals that align to overall business objectives, conduct skill self-assessments, and participate in check-ins with their manager. These changes have helped improve engagement, as 78% of employees participated in the company’s annual engagement survey.
Kyndryl won the HRO Today Association North America Award for Business Partnership Excellence (Internal).
