It’s true: This year’s HRO Today EMEA Forum was not fortunate with the weather. Located in one of the most picturesque areas outside of Lisbon, Portugal, views of the sea (allegedly just across the road) were rare as thunderstorms rolled in from the ocean and rain lashed at the windows.

However, this did not distract from the insights and information being shared within the Forum. The event brought together some of the leading lights in the HR profession from the region, and offered an environment where everyone could share experiences, learn from each other, and celebrate their achievements.

In this issue of HRO Today EMEA, we look at some of the panels and events from the Forum. Taking on a view to the future, the Forum offered incisive sessions which examined the use of technology, the development of the TA function, the realities of managing a diverse workforce, and more. The panelists were drawn from diverse countries and businesses, but each was ready and willing to share their ideas and techniques with the HR audience.

The result was an event that didn’t just demonstrate current HR expertise but went further to support and influence future practice. Change across the business world is unremitting and frequently radical, and HR needs to evolve and keep pace. The Forum made clear that the profession is more than ready to take up this challenge and will continue to ensure people are at the heart of everything businesses set out to achieve.
