Michael Ehret will join Walmart as senior vice president and chief people officer of Walmart International, according to an internal memo from the organization. Ehret will join the global people leadership team and be an integral member of the Walmart International executive leadership team. In this role, he will work in close partnership with Kath McLay, president and CEO of Walmart International, and report to Donna Morris, chief people officer at Walmart. Â
As chief people officer for Walmart International, Ehret will partner with Walmart’s people teams across 18 countries outside the U.S. and support over 500,000 associates in Walmart’s international markets. He’ll be responsible for accelerating associate growth, prioritizing well-being, creating a sense of belonging, and leading a digital transformation for these associates. Â
Ehret has worked across multiple companies and industries, bringing a wealth of experience to this role. He has spent the last 17 years at Johnson & Johnson, most recently serving as head of global talent management. During his time at J&J, he held a variety of key leadership roles, including senior vice president of HR for multiple commercial franchises in the medical devices sector and senior vice president and regional supply chain HR leader of Latin America. He has managed diverse workforces across 90 countries and lived in China, Scotland, and Brazil. Â
Ehret and his family will be relocating to Northwest Arkansas. His first day will be April 28. Morris is excited about Ehret’s deep global experience and his genuine passion for developing people and making Walmart an even better place to work. Â
