HRO Today: What’s the biggest challenge you are currently facing and what are your plans to overcome it?
Chelsea Pyrzenski: Preparing for the cultural and operational shifts that AI brings is crucial and top of mind. Our goal as a business is to really change the way employees interact with technology, which is something we’re also dealing with internally—the change management that comes with the shift to AI. Right now, I am focused on driving a people-centric AI strategy that really influences a positive culture that embraces new tech, optimizes the way that work is done, and invests in our team members as individuals.
HROT: What are some ways HR can effectively manage the multigenerational workforce?
Pyrzenski: We’re fortunate to have leadership who believes in diversity of thought and in people so our organization benefits from many different lenses that impact the way we operate and allows us to understand many challenges and opportunities.
For example, Generation Z are digital natives so they expect a high level of digital sophistication from the software they use. Not everyone is as adept with technology, so companies need to rethink how they attract, hire, develop, and retain talent at all levels, fostering personal development for all. HR must ensure these priorities are being met and that companies are devising efficient methods for swiftly and effortlessly onboarding new and existing employees onto their technology platforms.
HROT: With the rise of generative AI and other technologies, how can HR ensure they are getting the most from it and their workforce?
Pyrzenski: The key is balancing innovation with user experience. Too often, companies are focused on software capabilities and not addressing the crucial factor: human adoption. Getting the most out of AI requires putting people first in your digital transformation strategies. Success relies on ensuring technology serves their workforce rather than overwhelming it.
HROT: What are you currently binging in your free time?
Pyrzenski: I’ve recently been watching The Bear, which captures the intensity of creative ambition and teamwork with such precision.
