Only 62% of New Zealanders report that they feel happy at work, according to research from SEEK. The inaugural survey asked 1,000 workers across a broad range of roles and positions how happy they currently are with different areas of their work, including work-life balance and senior management. Â
Having a purpose at work is the most important driver of employee happiness in New Zealand. Employees also consider their day-to-day responsibilities, company culture, salary, and stress levels as key factors in their happiness at work. Â
When comparing generations, research finds that older generations are happiest at work. Gen Z is the least happy generation at work, with just over half (52%) saying they are happy. This is followed by 54% of millennials, 69% of Gen X employees, and 76% of baby boomers. Â
