Back To The Basics

By D. Zachary Misko

The HRO Today Global HR Association Advisory Board evaluates member feedback, industry trends, and customer needs to determine what we should include in our annual project plan. As we discussed the initiatives on the table for 2018, it became clear that we should go back to the basics to remind, reteach, and educate HR professionals on the fundamentals of evaluating service and technology needs within the business. So that is exactly what we are going to do.

This year, the HRO Today Global HR Association will build tools to help HR services and technology buyers better determine and manage their needs. This will include the answers to what sometimes may seem like easy questions:

  • What needs to be in a statement of work/request for proposal (RFP)?
  • What is the pathway to go from baseline to next generation with my service provider?
  • How do I best collaborate with my procurement team during the process?

The Association will do this through multiple channels, including a webinar education series; sample templates; workforce solutions case studies; top 10 lists of best practices; and a library of key performance indicators (KPIs), RFP questions, and checklists. More details and a schedule for the program will be announced in our May member newsletter.

We are also creating an outsourcing provider certification program. The certification will evaluate the quality of practices and procedures necessary for the successful delivery of the service and/or technology products and programs. This will ensure that a consistent level of service, standards, and practices are being delivered, bringing peace of mind to HR professionals who are using these services. It will also better identify the leading companies in their industry.

Our new HR Technology Demo site is launching soon, which will provide information on new technology companies and demo videos of their products. Our goal is to educate HR professionals on the technology options available and not simply showcase shiny new toys. We will continue to deliver all of the member tools and benefits the Association is known for, including our Thought Leadership Councils (TLCs) with new monthly speakers discussing relevant topics within four different HR verticals: talent acquisition, talent management, employee relations and service, and outsourcing.

I look forward to another great year of best practice sharing, networking, and learning. I hope to see you at the upcoming HRO Today Forum North America on April 30 – May 2 at MGM in National Harbor, Md.
