HRO Today Association March Update

As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of HR and talent acquisition, I am pleased to share some updates and opportunities from the HRO Today Association.

The HRO Today Association remains committed to supporting the learning and development of HR professionals worldwide. Our virtual offerings provide opportunities for HR and talent acquisition staff to connect, learn, and support one another. Whether it’s through our 30-minute LivestreamsHR Table Talks, or Knowledge Centers, there are numerous opportunities to engage and grow within our community.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Kevin Johnson, chief human capital officer at DeeSeas, as he joins us in C-TEN. Additionally, we are honored to have Maria Trivellato, vice president of global talent acquisition, serving on our EMEA Board of Advisors.

Get Involved – Become a Knowledge Center Member

Are you looking for a peer group to deep dive into topics important to you? Our Knowledge Centers are specialized communities where members can delve into issues of shared interest, gain access to exclusive content, and participate in volunteer leadership and speaking opportunities. Currently, we have two Knowledge Centers: “Talent Acquisition and Management” and “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.” While anyone in the Association can attend Knowledge Center meetings, joining as a member maximizes the value you receive. Best of all, there is no fee to join, but you must be a current HRO Today Association member to be eligible.

Quarterly virtual meetings feature expert-led content and collaborative problem-solving discussions, fostering new ideas and improved processes. The support system and relationships cultivated within these Knowledge Centers are invaluable for staying competitive in today’s competitive talent landscape.

Furthermore, I am thrilled to announce the remarkable leadership team of our DEI Knowledge Center, who bring a wealth of experience and passion for DEI initiatives, ensuring our Knowledge Center continues to make a meaningful impact.

  1. Dr. Virnitia J. Dixon, EVP, chief diversity and culture officer, Santander
  2. Jo Anne Hill, vice president, diversity, equity and inclusion, Piedmont Healthcare
  3. Steve Amsden, vice president, military and diversity outreach, Orion Talent
  4. Judy Huie, vice president, DEI business officer, Freddie Mac
  5. Mary Steudle, senior vice president, strategic consulting, Cielo
  6. Jasmyne Ormond, MEd, director, DEIA initiatives, Amplify

Our next roundtable will take place on April 4th between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM ET, where we will discuss “DEI: From HR Function to Standalone Division.” In April 2022, Freddie Mac’s CEO established a dedicated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) division, separating it from its previous home under HR. Judy Huie played an integral role in creating the division, which aligns with the company’s mission of fostering equitable opportunities in the housing finance industry. Learn about the biggest surprises and stressors the Freddie Mac team faced in building the division and how they continue to partner purposefully both internally and externally to keep DEI front and center at this financial services company. Please contact me to see how you can participate.

In closing, I urge you to take advantage of the opportunities available within the HRO Today Association. Together, we can amplify our efforts and drive positive change in the HR industry. If you are not yet a member, I encourage you to join us to support your continuous learning and development. Association membership ensures your team is consistently honing the skills needed to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of their operations.
