Five awarded for excellence in HR services and technology

The HRO Today Services and Technology Association Awards recognized five leaders in human resources at their annual Awards Gala that took place at the 2015 HRO Today Forum APAC at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The awards have been considered the highlight of the year and an aspiration for those in the HR industry in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), North America (NA), Asia Pacific (APAC) and globally.

Each year, the HRO Today Services and Technology Association selects a theme and the awards criteria revolve around that theme. The theme of this year’s event was
Be Inspired! – Recognizing Excellence in HR. The HRO Today Awards Gala is the industry’s best-known and most prestigious event that brings together the most inspirational innovators and market shaker-uppers in the HR industry.

The following companies and individuals have made an inspirational impact on a product, group, company or the industry as a whole. All nominations were required to provide demonstrable evidence of how the nominee(s) garnered inspirational results through their efforts within their organizations and/or the HR industry within the awards year. The awards were presented by Vice President and Global Executive Director of the HRO Today Services and Technology Association Zachary Misko.

The winners were:

  1. Thought Leadership Award: The Flame Centre, Singapore. Accepting was Wendy Tan, the Singapore-based founding partner of The Flame Centre.

“One of HR’s strategic roles is developing the people strategy of their company and this includes recruiting, developing and retaining the right talents to power the growth of the organization,” said Misko.

“This year’s winner reframes how career development should be done in organizations, from focusing on career structures to facilitating career conversations, and from promotions and career transition to learning and experience. Their work, in partnership with Career Systems International, brings the leading ideas in the field of Career Development and Engagement to impact organizations across the APAC region. Congratulations to Flame Centre.”

  1. Excellence in Business Partnership Award: IndiGo and PeopleStrong. Accepting were Rajiv Das, manager, Human Resources, IndiGo, and Prakash Rao, founding member and head MPHRO, PeopleStrong.

“Among many things, this year’s winner implemented
an employee self-service module has handles over 8,000 queries and transaction requests quarterly -and manages over 10,000+ employees at all locations for onboarding, relocation, exit management, an HR Helpdesk and payroll management,” said Misko.

“The relationship was entered into with the strategic intent to build large scale, efficient HR processes, create value added services for employees, while maintaining quality
of experience, leading to better models of self-service for employees, managers and HR. Congratulations to IndiGo and PeopleStrong!”

  1. Best Use of Social Media Award: Ericsson. Accepting for Ericsson was Matt Kaiser of Employer Branding & Digital Recruiting / Global Talent Acquisition team and keynote speaker at HRO Today Asia Pacific Forum.

“With activity and effective utilization of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, microblogs, blogs, Flickr, Slideshare, video, Google+, to mention a few, this company has built a global environment for the brightest and most passionate minds to collaborate in,” said Misko.

“Their inclusive culture provides the freedom to innovate and their “Discover what makes YOU + Ericsson” is a powerful combination and an excellent example of a company that is not only doing great things but understands how to cultivate and market that brand to attract the best and brightest people.   1. Rising Star Award: Piotr Grzejszczak, head of client services, Alexander Mann Solutions.

“This year’s winner has made a significant impact on developing the geographical reach of the concept of outsourcing, introducing the concept to untapped outsourcing markets such as Pakistan and Vietnam,” said Misko.

“He has also successfully introduced the concept of outsourcing to new sectors in the region, such as legal and media, built a cross country culturally diverse team of future leaders, and ensures a strong focus on candidate experience for his team and customers.”

  1. HR Superstar Award: Sue Campbell, managing director Asia Pacific, Futurestep.

“Since moving to Hong Kong with Futurestep in 2010,
Sue has acted in a regional governance capacity for RPO across Asia, driving growth and innovation. She has worked closely with a leading consumer retail client in
the planning and development of a significant RPO to support their Greater China growth strategy. She has also project managed a consultancy assignment for a leading financial services institution (undertaking a comprehensive review and rationalisation of agency partners), and lead
a comprehensive regional talent acquisition review for a consumer goods organisation,” said Misko.

“She has extensive international experience in resourcing and talent management, including commercial and solution design, negotiation, implementation and operational delivery management. Sue is an active Board Member of the Asia Pacific Chapter of the HRO Today Association. Congratulations, Sue.”
