HROA Awards Banquet Honors Excellence Across Industry

Fifteen recipients at the second annual awards are recognized for pioneering efforts.

by Sharon Taylor

In late April, we held our second annual HROA Awards Banquet. I am still hearing from attendees about what a great event it was. Who could have predicted five years ago that the HR outsourcing community of buyers, providers, advisors, and supporters would grow to the point where we could fill to capacity a 300-person room and have a waiting list to boot!

The banquet was an opportunity for all of us in the industry to catch up with friends, share experiences, and recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to HR outsourcing in the past year.

During his thoughtful keynote address, Jim Borel of DuPont reminded each of us that the work we do is not just about outsourcing but ultimately about helping people and organizations be the best that they can possibly be. That resonates whether you are a buyer, provider, or other player in the outsourcing space, and I saw many nodding heads in the room.

The evening was also about celebrating excellence. Awards were presented for 12 distinct categories, and while all the honorees work in different capacities within the industry, a common theme was their commitment to helping advance the outsourcing model, whether through thought leadership, the development of innovative solutions, or exemplary partnership. Each award winner represents what the HROA is about, and their diversity underscores the depth and breadth of our organization. The complete list of award recipients and categories appears at the end of this column.

Of course, as HROA chairwoman, I also had air time to trumpet several exciting enhancements on the horizon for the organization, including the launch of a completely revamped web site, our upcoming regional forum series, and the opening of our new European headquarters in Brussels, making the organization truly global. To that end, we were delighted to welcome our colleagues from HROA Europe to the dinner.

Finally, my recap of the evening would not be complete without an acknowledgement of the generous support of our sponsors. HR Executive magazine provided the wonderful pre-dinner reception. Rideau Recognition Solutions furnished the awards. Hewitt Associates funded our delicious dessert, and Accenture HR Services catered the beverages.

I am already looking forward to next year’s HROA awards banquet. If you would like information on how you can book your table now, feel free to contact the HROA’s main office at (202) 905-0351 or send an e-mail to info@hroassociation.org.
