Attracting and Nurturing Employees

SolarWinds People Success team set out to introduce new policies and programs to help improve its employee engagement and company culture.

Made up of 51 global employees across seven functional teams, SolarWinds’ People Success team always has the employee at its heart. Throughout 2023, the team’s mission has remained the same: attract, onboard, engage, nurture, and retain employees.

There were improvements to the basics: a new applicant tracking system to streamline and optimise hiring; an enhanced intern programme with 45 interns recruited from universities; and a series of employee testimonials to help promote employee engagement programmes.

Training access was also improved with a new learning and development hub that brings together multiple resources in one place and an interactive guide for employees to explore different career paths to accelerate their professional growth and development.

The efforts made by SolarWinds’ People Success team were not without challenges. For example, employees and candidates unaware of the company’s benefits packages were more likely to leave the company or reject job offers. To combat these issues, the company curated a total rewards statement to provide a detailed breakdown of an employee’s compensation, including base pay, bonuses, benefits, and country-specific perks. The document also helps keep candidates interested by improving transparency during the hiring process. Plus, the SolarWinds total rewards team hosted financial well-being sessions covering a range of topics. By participating, employees were able to gain a better understanding of their financial situation and identify areas where they can improve.

After being certified as a Great Place to Work in 2022, SolarWinds won the HRO Today Association’s APAC Award for HR Team of the Year.
