Schindler Chooses ADP for European Payroll, HR Transactions

Schindler , the largest supplier of escalators and second-largest manufacturer of elevators worldwide, has opted to outsource its payroll and HR transaction processes to ADP in Europe. Within the next two years, the company will be using a template-based service, ADP GlobalView, to process paychecks for 16,000 employees across 14 European countries.

Schindler has been working on its European HR process alignment project since 2003. Marc Bruzzo, vice president of ADP ES Europe, referred to Schindler’s decision to trust ADP as a “milestone” in that effort. By January 2008, Bruzzo said ADP would be processing payroll for two-thirds of Schindler’s employees.

“Three years ago, not even we could offer such rapid deployment that is fully compliant with local legislation,” said Bruzzo. He added that 50 multinational companies with more than 500,000 employees are using the ADP GlobalView service

Jürgen Klingenberg, Schindler’s program manager, EU-Payroll Project, said that “outsourcing is a must" because payroll and HR transaction processes are not its core business. The company developed its approach over time, taking into account the challenges presented by multi-country outsourcing.

Bruzzo noted that ADP GlobalView also would enable Schindler to monitor the quality of service delivered by its local teams and regional shared-services center continuously. Security was a critical factor in choosing an HRO provider, according to Douglas Else-Jack, Schindler’s corporate purchasing vice president.
