Largest Domino’s Pizza Franchisee Experiences Cross-Organizational Benefits With Ultimate Software’s UltiPro

WESTON, Fla., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI – News), a leading provider of Web-based payroll and workforce management solutions, announced today that RPM Pizza, LLC, a 141-store Domino’s Pizza franchisee with approximately 3,500 employees, is leveraging UltiPro Workforce Management’s self-service capabilities, reporting tools, and industry-leading functionality for companywide organizational value.

An Ultimate Software customer since 1995, RPM Pizza has stores in four states. The company decided to use UltiPro’s Web self-service to improve employee empowerment and communication, while reducing costs and building efficiencies. Since it rolled out self-service in 2004, RPM has migrated to a virtually 100% paperless payroll and is experiencing hard cost savings of approximately $60,000 annually by eliminating the mailing and printing of direct deposit advices (DDAs) alone. In addition to DDAs, RPM has posted many forms, W-2s, employee training information, and other relevant employee communications on the UltiPro portal — saving additional printing, handling, and storage fees. According to the company’s payroll supervisor and 401(k) administrator, Kim Ladner, the impact of the company’s paperless initiative goes beyond the obvious fiscal advantages.

“I handle many HR functions for the company and can say that the benefits of self-service and the UltiPro portal reach across the organization, aiding employees, managers, and the many divisions within RPM that use it. By giving employees access to their own information, we’re saving dollars, empowering our workforce, and freeing up administrative staff to focus on other important tasks,” said Ladner.

One of the activities that Ladner and her team spend more time on today is generating reports for management and executives. For instance, company leadership regularly uses metrics and demographics from UltiPro to monitor labor spending. Using UltiPro’s customizable reporting tools, Ladner created a monthly report to help management track turnover.

“The hospitality industry has a relatively high turnover rate, and UltiPro allows us to view our workforce changes as a company, by store, or even by position. Having a report that includes the reason the employee left RPM along with other important metrics helps our leadership team analyze turnover in a precise way and make informed strategic decisions,” said Ladner.

Another strategic benefit of UltiPro is its flexible, easy-to-use setup that lets Ladner quickly and easily accommodate business changes. As an example, three of RPM’s regional directors recently bought their own stores and created five new franchised companies that Ladner manages administratively through UltiPro.

“In addition to our own 3,500 employees, we pay approximately 300 employees in 10 stores for 5 separate companies. It was easy to organize. I just moved those stores into their own distinct component companies, and now we pay those employees as we did before,” said Ladner.

“We are pleased to see RPM Pizza using UltiPro so effectively. Ultimate Software has more than 100 customers in the hospitality and recreation industry, and that’s a testament to UltiPro’s ability to positively affect the entire organization,” said Greg Swick, senior vice president of sales for Ultimate Software. “UltiPro has the online access, reporting tools, and the flexible, robust functionality needed to improve the bottom line, enhance employee communication, and adapt to changing business needs.”
