GAP turns to Ceridian Centrefile

GAP Group Limited, the Scottish company with a UK network of plant and tool hire depots, has selected a new HR and payroll solution from Ceridian Centrefile to support its continuing business growth.

GAP currently employs 660 people across a nationwide network of 54 depots.  With plans to double the size of the business within five years, they needed to establish a robust administrative HR system which could deliver an efficient service and accommodate the planned growth.  This requires the introduction of an e-HR solution which will enable the depots to administer their own payroll and HR data, improving efficiency and providing local management information.  The central HR function in Glasgow will continue to co-ordinate the payroll, but without a large volume of data entry. This will free the HR team to provide more strategic support to the business.

Ceridian Centrefiles integrated HR and payroll solution will be implemented for the central HR function initially, followed by a phased roll-out of self-service access to regional and depot managers.  The centralised HR database will allow analysis of trends in the workplace, such as absence, and will monitor the effectiveness of recruitment and training strategies.

Catriona Mackinnon, HR Manager at GAP, says:

Our key objective is to improve efficiency by pushing administration out to its source in the depots. This will allow us to accommodate our planned business growth, while freeing the central HR team to spend more time on planning and supporting employees and the management team.

We chose Ceridian because they could demonstrate that their solution was already operating for other companies in the way we wanted to achieve.

Nigel Polglass, managing director of Ceridian HR & Payroll Solutions, says:

Our integrated HR and Payroll solution is well-proven and is helping many organisations to achieve the benefits of e-HR.   Self-service is the key to reducing the administration burden on HR, whilst also improving service and decision-making across the whole organisation.
