Convergys Nabs Starbucks HR Services Deal

Convergys Corporation , which provides customer care, human resources, and billing services, has signed a multi-year contract with Starbucks Coffee Company to provide global human resources business process services, beginning with Starbucks North American operations. Starbucks has more than 13,500 stores in 40 countries and employs more than 145,000 people. Convergys expects the contract to positively impact revenue and earnings beginning in 2009.
Under the terms of the contract, Convergys will provide human resource administration and payroll services for Starbucks employees in the U.S. and Canada, along with benefits services for Starbucks employees in Canada. The goal is to help Starbucks build a single global platform for HR services to support the retailer’s rapid global expansion.

We needed to find a HR service provider that shared our vision and values and had a commitment to customer service that was as strong as our own,” said Dave Pace, executive vice president of Partner Resources at Starbucks. “In Convergys we found those qualities, as well as a provider that can provide flexible, reliable, and scalable services to help us as we continue to grow.”
Karen Bowman, president of Convergys’ employee care business, said, “To be selected by one of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies and one of the country’s Best Companies to Work For, validates our service delivery model and our ability to provide a superior HR experience for Starbucks partners around the globe. We are delighted to play a role in Starbucks continued success.”
