HRO Today Association Update: Thought Leadership—Unlock Your Potential

HR Association

By D. Zachary Misko

Thought leaders are the informed opinion leaders and the go-to people in their field of expertise. They are trusted sources who move and inspire people with innovative ideas; turn ideas into reality, and know and show how to replicate their success. We certainly have a great group of thought leaders and innovators involved in our association, as demonstrated by the outstanding group of HR executives, industry experts, and best-selling authors who speak at our Thought Leadership Councils (TLCs), as well as the people who attend them.

The HRO Today Association provides members with the opportunity to connect with other professionals, share best practices and content on our website, and discuss and set industry standards within the HR and outsourcing industry. Learning through our TLCs continues to be a member favourite and attracts a following via live webcasts and our on-demand TLC library. The TLC functional categories are designed as a member benefit to facilitate networking and engagement, and to strengthen the association’s relevance to HRO Today, our events, and the HR outsourcing industry in general. The following monthly TLCs support this effort and are held the second week of each month:

HRO Today STA Update: Certifiably the Busiest January Yet

HR Association

By D. Zachary Misko

Welcome to 2019! For those that took time at the end of last year to prepare, congratulations. Based on industry buzz, you’re only putting in 60-hour work weeks! For those that are still wrapping up strategic planning, setting priorities, and/or creating marketing and employer branding plans, better luck next year. As usual, it seems that each year we get busier than the last, with more being added to our plates with every turn of the calendar page whether it be products to create and sell, solutions to retire or improve, budgets to manage, and customers to service. Phew, it’s daunting sometimes, isn’t it?

The HRO Today Global HR Association recognizes that you are busy and that your time is valuable. We also know that you still require access to research, best practices, industry tools, references, and a network of experts who can help. So we took that into consideration as we set our priorities and plan for 2019. A list of our products, services, and resources to help you work smarter, not harder, is available on our website. You’ll find things that have been in place since the association was formed as well as new and improved offerings for this year.

HRO Today STA Update: Collaboration for HR

HR Association

Sensitivity, confidentiality, and insight are all required of great HR leadership. However, the nature of most HR issues requires the utmost discretion. In perhaps no other role does the phrase “lonely at the top” describe the daily life as well as it does for the CHRO. There is no more daunting task than to help an organization get hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands of employees all striving to achieve common goals and cultural precepts. However, where do HR leaders go for advice, support, or best practices? There are few answers to that question that come even close to the many choices available for other C-suite officers.

For that reason, one year ago, HRO Today and the Wharton Center for Human Resources combined forces in a landmark partnership to create the CHRO Today Executive Network (C-TEN).

The Wharton Center for HR has worked with HRO Today and the leadership of the C-TEN to address the pressing questions CHROs need to answer in order to be extraordinary in their jobs.

HRO Today STA Update: Join the Conversation

HR Association

By D. Zachary Misko

With its canals, world-famous museums, and historical sights, Amsterdam is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. We are excited to be back again for the 2018 HRO Today Forum EMEA, 5 to 7 November. Recognition, learning, and networking are all part of the plan as delegates will hear from industry thought leaders and experts, discover the talented companies and individuals receiving awards during our gala and awards luncheon, and meet HR professionals from around the region.

The HRO Today Services and Technology Association is a global association of HR executives, thought leaders, and industry experts working in roles as practitioners, providers, and analysts. Whilst the Forum is an excellent opportunity for our members and each of the Forum delegates to participate in thought leadership through great conversations and best practice sharing, the association allows you to continue these actions daily. If you are not already a member of the HRO Today Global HR Association, I urge you to do so to keep the conversation, connections, and learning active every month.

CEO’s Letter: Protecting HR Investments in Services and Technology

HRO Today

By Elliot H. Clark

For many years, HRO Today has provided numerous customer satisfaction based rankings of providers through the HRO Today Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction surveys. We appreciate the notoriety and respect the practitioner community has placed in the methodology of the ranking. However, we only perform this kind of study in up to 10 areas of technology or service. This leaves many categories that are not covered or fall neatly into the Baker’s Dozen program.

Juxtaposed to these needs is another disturbing trend. As workforce issues heat up with the global economy, there is a greater demand for HR services and new technology solutions. This causes new providers to flood the space—which can be good and bad for the market. New providers can bring new approaches and innovations. But when a new provider fails to perform, word can spread through the HR community and raise concerns in the entire industry. I have long referred to unqualified providers that claim to have capabilities beyond the scope of their experience as “Faux POs.” There needs to be a way to protect unwitting clients from the lure of a Faux PO provider. A more comprehensive system is necessary to help identify the best providers.
