Fostering Inclusion and Belonging

Kyndryl’s inclusion networks in the U.K. and Ireland are dedicated to cultivating community and improving engagement among the company’s diverse workforce.

By Maggie Mancini

Since becoming an independent company in 2021, Kyndryl has aimed to foster a culture where all employees belong. According to its annual engagement survey, 90% of respondents feel respected, and 86% feel they can be themselves at work. The company maintains its high engagement scores through “Kyndryl Inclusion Networks (KINs)”. These company-sponsored, employee-led resource groups are open to all employees and are dedicated to fostering inclusion and community.

“KINs”—specifically those in the United Kingdom and Ireland—have contributed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for employees, driving meaningful change, and promoting diversity and equity within the organisation. The “KINs” have achieved several key accomplishments across DEI initiatives.

Some of these include commemoration of South Asian Heritage Month, events to celebrate Black History Month and Diwali, efforts to raise mental health literacy among employees, monthly community calls supporting employee wellness, writing Kyndryl’s menopause policy, promoting visible support of the LGBTQ+ community, and attending Pride events in Dublin, London, and Manchester.

Kyndryl’s “KINs” have leverages several best practices related to effective governance and operations, including:

  • securing executive sponsorship and buy-in before acting;
  • leveraging professional networks to engage with organisations and amplify messaging; and
  • fostering cross-diversity group engagement and intersectionality.

Kyndryl has won the HRO Today Association’s EMEA Award for DEI Excellence.
