Since joining the company nearly three years ago, CHRO Filipa Gamanho Esteves has placed Capgemini at the top of the ranking of the best companies to work for in Portugal. Through her leadership, Capgemini Portugal has become a market leader and a leader in organisational well-being. Further, the HR function has become one of the fundamental pillars of the company’s overall success.

By optimising the talent acquisition team’s recruitment and selection processes, Esteves has helped reduce the time it takes to hire new employees. By setting targets and forecasting future talent needs, Esteves ensures that recruitment keeps pace with organisational growth. Esteves has also been able to develop talent and new skills through certification and training while maintaining costs, creating a sustainable cycle of growth.

Esteves has developed and implemented a new HR operating model structured around the talent acquisition team, HR business partner functions, and the shared services areas focussed on talent, learning, compensation, benefits, employee experience, and HR services. To do this, Esteves has leveraged digital capabilities to optimise and personalise the experience. In addition to achieving quantitative results, Esteves’ leadership in this transformation has also helped foster a culture of continuous development, improved its diversity and inclusion, and defined the organisation’s strategic plan, which is visible through these metrics: processes, product, productivity, performance, and people.

Esteves defines practices and processes that integrate people management with organisational strategy. She was also responsible for driving the digital transformation of HR, leading to the introduction of tools to automate HR processes. Her investments in learning and development has enhanced performance, while training and workforce restructuring has improved productivity. Still, none of these contributions would be possible without Esteves’ focus on attracting and retaining top talent.

Filipa Gamanho Esteves, chief human resources officer at Capgemini Portugal, has won the HRO Today Association EMEA Award for HR Leadership.
