Steve Antonoff is a broad based human resource generalist with strong experience in designing compensation programs, benefits, training and development, employee relations, labor relations and union negotiations, safety, risk management, performance management, organizational development, international employees, expatriate assignments, and mergers and acquisitions. Steve also has extensive administrative experience including managing facilities, fleet management, customer service, phone system/front desk, meeting planning, office equipment, purchasing, office supplies, records management.
Born and raised in the New York City area, Steve moved to California in the mid 1980’s and now resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife and family.
Steve started his career in manufacturing as the Production Manager for women’s shoe manufacturing company in New York City. He then became the Purchasing Manager for a logistics company in Bayonne, NJ. It was here that Steve started his HR career when he created the HR function for this logistics company.
Steve’s career progression took him to, among other places, Savin Corporation where he supervised a team of HR managers across the country, Hyundai Motor America where he won a Recruitment Today magazine award for a hiring campaign that attracted nearly 10,000 automotive industry applicants, LA Gear where he managed the construction project consolidating the corporate offices from six different locations in to a centralized office space, QANTAS Airways where he worked on a company-wide compensation project affecting 20,000+ employees, Mercury Air Group where he introduced a formal performance management system for 2,000+ employees including the use of an online system, and ICANN where he opened offices in Brussels, Istanbul and Singapore.
Steve is currently the Vice President of Human Resources for the CalPortland Company, a premier producer of cement and related building materials including ready-mix concrete. Responsible for nearly 3,000 employees Steve oversees all aspects of day to day HR operations as well as providing strategic leadership as part of the Executive Team.
Steve has been certified to deliver DDI training, Eagle’s Flight training, Forum’s Performance Based Management, and FranklinCovey’s change management program.
Currently Steve serves as the Chair of the HRO Today CTEN group, Vice President of the Cement Employers Association, and the Vice-Chair of the Workforce Development Committee of the National Ready-Mix Concrete Association.
Steve is also currently involved in the DREAM/THUGLIFE program with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department teaching youth parolees they are valued. Previously Steve served as the President of the South Bay Adult Care Center (now part of the Easter Seals organization) serving elderly adults with dementia and other disabling conditions.
Hobbies include travel, golf, reading, solving puzzles and food. Steve is a real foodie and loves trying new restaurants when he travels.
