HRO Today and Alexander Mann Solutions Release Report: Human Resources New Technology for Second Quarter

Philadelphia, PA – August 14, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today Magazine, and Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, have partnered to release the Human Resources New Technology Quarterly Summary: Q2 2018.

As the rate of advancement in the human capital management (HCM) technology sector is accelerating, these quarterly reports track and analyze recent trends, funding initiatives and other activities that support product innovation in HR.  This information provides critical insights into new technology, its applications and the companies leading the HCM technology industry.

The robust rate of advancement in human resources technologies increased during the second quarter, with 57 major announcements documented, compared to 36 in Q1.  Areas of development with notably high levels of activity included: mobile capabilities, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and platforms that facilitate communication between employers and employees/candidates.  Just as companies have begun exploring uses for AI in various HR functions, mobile technologies can be leveraged in several areas as well, including recruitment and employee engagement.

“The statistics about mobile device usage worldwide are staggering.  One-in-five adults in the US are ‘smart-phone only internet users’, which demonstrates how truly important mobile integration is to the hiring process,” said Beth Miller, Vice President – Americas, Alexander Mann Solutions.  “Investing in mobile HR technology can help organizations reach candidates at the right place and time and streamline their entire journey from applicant to new hire.”

“Mobile technology can also play a role in employee engagement, giving HR professionals flexible and efficient tools to reach their employees whenever and wherever they are,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “Mobile technology provides both HR and employees with access to data and resources in a convenient and easy-to-use manner.”

In addition to exploring key areas of technology development, the report provides a monthly breakdown of major product development initiatives, funding transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

The exclusive report is available for download by clicking here.  For more information about SharedXpertise, visit www.hrotoday.com.

HRO Today Releases New Report on HR and Hiring Manager Satisfaction with Talent Acquisition Performance

Philadelphia, PA – August 9, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today Magazine, and Orion Novotus, an Orion Talent company and the mid-market leader in recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), have partnered to release a report entitled “HR and Hiring Managers: Where They Differ and Agree on TA Performance.”

The report found that recruiters tend to underestimate hiring manager satisfaction with the talent acquisition (TA) process, consistently rating their perceptions of the process and hiring manager satisfaction lower than hiring managers themselves.  Overall, satisfaction scores from both hiring managers and recruiters were high, averaging 4.23 out of 5.00, while recruiters indicated that they expected hiring managers to give a rating of 3.71 for the TA support they receive.  Both parties agreed that there is considerable room for greater satisfaction and improved deliverables.

“One potential area for improvement is communication,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “Less than one third (31.1 percent) of hiring managers and only 13.3 percent of recruiters agreed completely with the assertion that there is an appropriate level of communication between the two groups, which is a discouraging finding in such an important area.”

The tight labor market has also affected recruiter and hiring manager perceptions of the TA process.  In the US, the unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent in May 2018, which is well below the rate of 5.0 percent that the US Federal Reserve considers “full employment.”

“The increasingly competitive job market in the US has affected recruiters in particular, making the task of sourcing the right volume of quality applicants more difficult,” said Cory Kruse, president of Orion Novotus.  “Furthermore, both hiring managers and recruiters expressed dissatisfaction with the onboarding process and retention rates, revealing opportunities to refine their procedures and employ new technologies in order to deliver a more satisfying experience all around.”

HRO Today and PeopleScout Release Global Unemployment Report for Q1 2018

Philadelphia, PA – July 27, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today Magazine, and PeopleScout, the world’s largest RPO provider and the No. 1 Managed Service Provider on HRO Today’s MSP Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Ratings for the last two years, have partnered to release the Global Unemployment Report for the first quarter of 2018.

Global unemployment levels remain low, with 24 of 49 countries analyzed reporting levels of 5.0 percent or less, which many economists consider at or near full employment.  Full employment means that unemployment has fallen to the lowest possible level without causing inflation.  At the end of March, unemployment in the United States held steady at 4.1 percent for the sixth consecutive month  By comparison, unemployment rates were reported as 4.2 percent in the United Kingdom, 3.9 percent in China and 3.5 percent in Germany.

“Economic growth for the first quarter of 2018 has been geographically broad, with growth rates rising in more than half of the world’s economies,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise.  “The global growth rate for 2018 is projected to be 3.1 percent, up slightly from 2017, and is being driven by increased investment, higher inventory turn rates and strengthening demand.”

The report also analyzes the relationship between education level and employment status.  “The unemployment rate of a population often significantly drops as education levels increase,” Mr. Basinait notes.  “In fact, data reveals that on average, the unemployment rate of the least educated populations is nearly three times higher than the most educated groups.  This information can help employers plan recruitment strategies based on the countries in which they operate and the skill levels required.”

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study for 1Q 2018

Philadelphia, PA – July 11, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today Magazine, and Yoh Recruitment Process Outsourcing have partnered to release the Worker Confidence Index study for the first quarter of 2018.

During this quarter, the study found that the Worker Confidence Index (WCI) increased by 2.6 points and has increased in each of the last three quarters.  The WCI now stands at 107.1.

Of the four components of the WCI, Likelihood of Promotion rose the most, improving by 9.7 points, while the Likelihood of a Raise also improved by 4.6 points.  Job Security and The Trust in Company Leadership indices showed modest declines in the quarter, but were similar to the first quarter of 2017.

“An increase in the WCI since the end of 2017 indicates that worker confidence is high, driven by the possibility of a promotion.  In addition, younger workers especially reported being optimistic about receiving a raise,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.

The study reports that concern about job loss is the most important indicator in estimating worker confidence about their current and near-term financial outlook.  Women continue to report the highest level of job security since the inception of the study.  The percentage of males who felt that they would lose their job decreased slightly in 1Q 2018.

“The results of the most recent Worker Confidence Index show that the strong job market has made workers more comfortable about current roles and future job prospects.  However, that doesn’t mean companies and leaders can afford to become complacent in how they engage with their employees or future prospects,” said Jonathan Grosso, senior vice president, enterprise solutions, Yoh.  “In today’s current job climate, where highly talented workers can be difficult to find and retain, it’s more important than ever that companies focus on providing an exceptional employment experience and work to enhance their talent acquisition capabilities in order to attract and retain high performing workers.”

Study Background

HRO Today magazine and Yoh have been working together since 2014 to produce an index that measures U.S. employment security from the perspective of employees.  While multiple indices focusing on attitudes of the economy already exist – such as the Consumer Confidence Index, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), or United States Consumer Sentiment – these measures focus more on macro metrics, with much less emphasis on attitudinal measures of those employed.

The focus of the Worker Confidence Index Study is measuring perceived employment security.  According to the U.S Bureau of Economic Analysis, approximately 71 percent of what the U.S. produces is for personal consumption.  Since the perception of job security greatly impacts purchasing behavior, there is a need to focus on how individuals perceive their job outlook.

HRO Today and Alexander Mann Solutions Release Report: Human Resources New Technology for First Quarter

Philadelphia, PA – April 27, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, have partnered to release the Human Resources New Technology Quarterly Summary: Q1 2018.

The purpose of publishing these new quarterly reports is to track and analyze recent advances in technology and in funding initiatives aimed at supporting product innovation in HR.  This information provides critical insights into new technology, their applications and the companies offering them in the human capital management technology sector.

Among the 36 major announcements noted in the first quarter alone, three areas of technology development had particularly high levels of activity:  artificial intelligence (AI), platforms that facilitate communication between employers and employees or candidates, and blockchain technology.

“Nearly one-quarter of the announcements so far this year have referenced AI,” said Jerry Collier, director of global innovation at Alexander Mann Solutions.  “AI is becoming a larger part of HR technology, but what companies are actually doing with it can vary.  The implications for the adoption of the technology are enormous, and in this report we provide some insight into what that can mean to an organization.”

“Blockchain technology, which provides a secure way to view data in real-time, is poised to make a significant difference in how businesses of all sizes operate,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “Its ability to address cyber security concerns, as well as its cost savings implications, gives companies an incentive to invest in this emerging technology.”

In addition to exploring key areas of technology development, the report provides a monthly breakdown of major product development initiatives, funding transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

HRO Today and Alexander Mann Solutions Release Study: HR Finds Artificial Intelligence a Positive Evolution

Philadelphia, PA – April 26, 2018 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, have announced the release of the study Bits Don’t Byte:  HR Finds Artificial Intelligence a Positive Evolution.

As a tool used to guide and execute HR processes, artificial intelligence (AI) has enormous implications.  Intelligent technology can be used to help HR leaders source candidates, forecast employee flight risk, identify high-potential employees, prevent bias in hiring, improve the candidate and employee experience, implement corporate learning programs, and more.

In order to determine the prevalence of AI adoption in the HR industry and its impact on business results, HRO Today partnered with Alexander Mann Solutions to conduct a survey of top HR professionals.

“Artificial intelligence used for HR remains in the early stages of adoption,” said Jerry Collier, director of global innovation at Alexander Mann Solutions.  “However, this study indicated that the use of AI-enabled technology is rising among companies of all sizes.  Over half of respondents indicated they are planning to implement AI in the near future.”

“While it’s too early to tell if the investment in AI made by HR professionals is paying off, we found that most feel positively about their experience so far,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “In fact, about 60 percent of HR professionals indicated that AI has met their expectations.  We will continue to track the development of this technology in the HR space.”

One of the major concerns about AI is that it’s going to eliminate jobs, but HR professionals need not worry.  When study participants were asked what they predict will happen to the size of their organization’s recruitment teams in 24 months as a result of AI, more than one-half of our study participants forecasted no change to the size of their recruitment teams.  But, that doesn’t mean the role of the recruiter won’t change, as just over two-thirds of HR professionals indicated they felt that recruiters will spend more time developing relationships with hiring managers.

Moving forward, the more analytical capabilities of AI will be tested.  Candidate assessment was the most commonly planned area for AI expansion, followed closely by internal mobility planning and then employee performance management.

Philadelphia, PA – April 13, 2018SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and PeopleScout, a worldwide leader in recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), managed services (MSP) and total workforce solutions, have announced the release of their global labor market study for the fourth quarter of 2017.

This report provides companies with global labor market data about employment rates, economic growth and the state of the talent pool in various countries and regions. It provides essential information for predicting high-potential locations for expansion and recruitment, allowing multinational companies to stay competitive in talent acquisition. This report also contains a section highlighting the five developed nations most profoundly impacted by chronic unemployment.

“We see a cyclical recovery in the economy worldwide, with increased activity in investment, manufacturing activity and trade,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise. “But, conditions do depend upon which countries are being explored.  Further insight into the challenges of the five countries mentioned in this report that are facing consistently low employment rates should be taken into consideration.”

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study Annual Report for 2017
Worker Job Security and Trust in Leadership Wavering

Philadelphia, PA – March 8, 2018 – HRO Today announced that it released its Worker Confidence Index Study annual report for 2017.

In this study, the Worker Confidence Index (WCI) reports a decrease of 0.7 points since last quarter and 1.3 points since last year. It now stands at 103.2 after increasing for the past two consecutive quarters.

Of the four components of the WCI, trust in company leadership rose by 3.2 points, while there was a 2.5 percent decline in confidence related to job security.

“The decline in the WCI since last year suggests some concerns in worker confidence, specifically related to trust in company leadership – which experienced a significant drop of 3.6 points since the fourth quarter of 2016,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise. “Recent volatility in the stock market may contribute to lower worker confidence in 2018, but for now, confidence remains high overall.”

Meanwhile, the rate of growth in the gross domestic product increased at an annual rate versus the fourth quarter last year, reflecting positive contributions from personal consumption.

“In order to meet the expectations of quality young talent, companies have to place high priority on the employment experience from the start, including the recruiting and onboarding process, all the way through their entire careers with the company,” said Jonathan Grosso, vice president, enterprise solutions, Yoh. “And while adding and retaining younger workers is key to long-term growth, engaging older workers and spreading their institutional knowledge is another issue that demands attention in today’s dynamic talent landscape.”

Study Background

HRO Today magazine and Yoh have been working together since 2014 to produce an index that measures U.S. employment security from the perspective of employees. While multiple indices focusing on attitudes of the economy already exist – such as the Consumer Confidence Index, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) or United States Consumer Sentiment – these measures focus more on macro metrics, with much less emphasis on attitudinal measures of those employed.

The focus of the Worker Confidence Index Study is measuring perceived employment security. According to the U.S Bureau of Economic Analysis, more than 70% of what the U.S. produces is for personal consumption. Since the perception of job security greatly impacts purchasing behavior, there is a need to focus on how individuals perceive their job outlook.

HRO Today and PeopleScout Release Global Labor Market Study for Third Quarter of 2017

Philadelphia – December 19, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and PeopleScout, a global provider of recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), managed services (MSP) and total workforce solutions, have announced the release of their global unemployment report for the third quarter of 2017.

This report provides companies with global labor market data about employment rates, economic growth and the state of the talent pool in various countries and regions.  It provides essential information for predicting high-potential locations for expansion and recruitment, allowing multinational companies to stay competitive in talent acquisition.  This edition of the report also provides a regional synopsis of English proficiency for those countries where English is not the primary language.

“Global growth for the rest of the year is projected to continue moderately, and activity in advanced economies that is driven by the United States is also expected to gain momentum,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise.  “However, we caution that comparing unemployment rates among various countries is a challenging task.  We encourage you to look at all of the available perspectives in this report to help you analyze the talent environments most appropriate for your organization.”

“In today’s global talent market, it is imperative to consider many of the factors available in these quarterly labor market reports,” said Taryn Owen, president of PeopleScout.  “We believe HR professionals will find our analysis valuable as they plan their talent strategy for the new year.”

This study is part of a quarterly series of global labor market data reports.  Watch for the report for the fourth quarter of 2017 to be published this winter.

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study for Third Quarter 2017

Workers Growing More Comfortable with Job Security

Philadelphia, PA – December 7, 2017 – HRO Today announced that it has released its Worker Confidence Index Study for the third quarter of 2017.

In this study, the Worker Confidence Index (WCI) reports an increase of 2.8 points over the prior quarter to 102.5 – also up from the same period one year ago.

Of the four components of the WCI, likelihood of a promotion rose by 3.2 points in the third quarter, while other components remained virtually the same.  Congruently, after a sharp decline earlier this year, job security has quickly rebounded and now stands at about where it was five quarters ago (104.8).  Lack of concern about job loss is the most important indicator in estimating worker confidence about their current and near-term financial outlook.

Meanwhile, the rate of growth in the gross domestic product remains unchanged from the prior quarter, and workers have indicated that their trust in company leadership has been waning steadily over the last three quarters.

“Employees are continuing to feel more confident about employment security at the moment, and at the same time are questioning their trust in senior leadership,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “This observation corresponds with a decline in the belief of the likelihood of a raise of at least three percent.  Positive earnings news must translate into more compensation for them.”

“The results of this study are particularly interesting as the rise in perceived likelihood of a promotion shows individual optimism among workers, while the continuing mistrust of company leadership indicates that workers may not be confident in the overall direction of their organizations,” said Jonathan Grosso, vice president, enterprise sales for Yoh.  “Though a rebounding index is encouraging for employers and talent managers, it’s clear leadership needs to be more forthcoming with employees about organizational direction and take a more active role in supporting their careers.”

HRO Today Releases Annual Cost of Bad Reputation Report for 2017
Emphasizes impacts of reputation on talent acquisition

Philadelphia, PA – November 6, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, has announced the release of their annual Cost of a Bad Reputation Report for 2017 in conjunction with Cielo, the world’s leading strategic Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) partner.

Within this report, companies are presented with findings related to the impacts of an organization’s reputation on talent acquisition.  Respondent demographics are used to reveal important trends among diverse groups as they relate to their willingness to work for a company with a bad reputation.

In addition, exclusive data is provided on the impact of an organization’s reputation on candidates accepting job offers, how quickly employees will look for a new job in light of a scandal, and which behaviors create the most harm to culture and to overarching recruiting efforts.

“Less than three-quarters of those under 35 years of age would be willing to accept a job offer from a company with a bad reputation, but 91-percent would take a job from an organization with a good reputation,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise.  “Further, as candidate age increases, proportionately fewer would be willing to work for a company with a bad reputation. So, age does play a factor in our findings, and overall, candidates of all ages are considering an organization’s reputation before accepting job offers.”

“In our experience, and as bolstered by SharedXpertise’s research, company reputation is a key factor in recruiting and retaining the best talent,” said Sue Marks, founder and CEO of Cielo.  “Workers across all age groups are less likely to leave organizations with good reputations, but if they do, it is to join an organization of equal or better reputation.”

The full report is available for download by clicking here.  For more information about SharedXpertise, visit hrotoday.com or contact Publisher Bill MacRae, at bill.macrae@sharedxpertise.com.

This report provides companies with global labor market data about employment rates, economic growth and the state of the talent pool in various countries and regions.  It provides essential information for predicting high-potential locations for expansion and recruitment, allowing multinational companies to stay competitive in talent acquisition.  This edition of the global unemployment report also provides statistics on countries with the most highly-skilled workers, which may be of particular importance to organizations with a need for in-demand, skilled workers.

“This quarter’s study shows that global economic growth in 2017 is projected to continue at the rate of 2.7 percent for the year, up from 2.4 percent in 2016, with moderately higher growth forecast for 2018,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise.  “While global growth is forecast, unemployment rates and other growth measures can vary widely by country.  Our report provides extensive insight into the talent environments in regions around the world as well as the global trends that are driving business.”

“We are committed to providing beneficial information to talent acquisition and human resources professionals around the globe with this type of research,” said Taryn Owen, president of PeopleScout.  “The compilation of the world’s top countries for high-skilled employment found in this quarter’s report, along with global labor market and economic growth data, will assist in the process of workforce planning and talent acquisition.

This study is part of a quarterly series of global labor market data reports. Watch for the report for the third quarter of 2017 to be published this fall.

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study for Second Quarter 2017
Worker Confidence Index Drops to Last Year’s Levels

Philadelphia, PA – September 12, 2017 – HRO Today announced that it has released its Worker Confidence Index Study for the second quarter of 2017.

In this study, the Worker Confidence Index (WCI) reports of a significant drop in second quarter worker confidence levels to 99.7 – equivalent to results found this time last year.  This number also shows a decrease from the first quarter of 2017.

Additionally, the only WCI component to see a rise since the first quarter report was job stability.  The remaining measures – including likelihood of promotion, likelihood of a raise and trust in company leadership – all declined.  However, the trust in company leadership index remains higher than a year ago.

“Workers may not be worried about the state of their jobs right now, but they are questioning their potential for growth at work,” says Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise. “They are feeling stable in their jobs, and that could be due in part to our economy’s improved GDP growth.  But, when it comes to receiving a promotion or a raise, individuals of all ages are lacking an overall confidence.”

“Despite the growth of the markets during the past year, the results of this Worker Confidence Index show that company revenues and success do not directly correlate with employee sentiment,” explained Andy Roane, vice president of recruitment process outsourcing, Yoh.  “That’s something leadership should place an extra focus on as we continue into the second half of 2017.”

Study Background

HRO Today magazine and Yoh have been working together since 2014 to produce an index that measures U.S. employment security from the perspective of employees.  While multiple indices focused on attitudes of the economy already exist – such as the Consumer Confidence Index, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) or United States Consumer Sentiment – these measures focus more on macro metrics, with much less emphasis on attitudinal measures of those employed.

HRO Today and PeopleScout Release Global Labor Market Study
Data and Predictions Point to Cautious Improvement

Philadelphia – August 24, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and PeopleScout, a global provider of recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), managed services (MSP) and total workforce solutions, have announced the release of the first quarterly global unemployment report for 2017.

This report allows companies to consult global labor market data about employment rates, economic growth and the state of the talent pool in various countries and regions.  It provides access to essential information for predicting high-potential locations for expansion and recruitment, allowing multinational companies to stay competitive in talent acquisition.

“This quarter’s report is showing that global economic growth is projected to accelerate by about 3 percent in 2017,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research at SharedXpertise.  “Fiscal stimulus in major regions like the United States could generate faster domestic and global growth than projected, however rising trade protection under the Trump administration could have adverse effects.”

“We are pleased to offer this report as a way to aid the decision-making process around talent acquisition and talent management programs,” said Taryn Owen, president of PeopleScout.  “Employment rates can vary greatly by region, so incorporating this component of workforce planning is vital to creating a global staffing strategy.”

This study is part of a quarterly series of global labor market data reports.  Watch for the report for second quarter 2017 to be published early this fall.

August 17, 2017 – Philadelphia, PA – HRO Today has announced its 2017 Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Survey rankings for recognition.  The rankings were revealed on August 17, 2017, via video announcement on YouTube and live posts on Twitter.

To determine the rankings, HRO Today collects feedback through an online survey that is distributed both directly to buyers through HRO Today’s mailing lists and indirectly by sending service providers the link to send to their clients.  Responses are scored for each provider that has a statistically significant sample, and 10 survey responses are required from seven client companies in order to qualify for the top 13 companies.

Results are analyzed across three subcategories:  breadth of service, deal size, and service quality.  Using an algorithm that weighs questions and categories based on importance, scores are calculated in all three subcategories and for the overall score.

The rankings for the overall score category are:

  1. Achievers
  2. Rideau Recognition, Inc.
  3. O.C. Tanner
  4. Globoforce
  5. Engage2Excel

“This is by far the most prestigious survey of its kind for employee recognition services and the most respected in the HR industry,” said Elliot Clark, CEO of SharedXpertise and HRO Today.  “Employee recognition leads to better employee retention and engagement, and companies seeking recognition and motivation service partners consider the information provided in the HRO Today magazine Recognition Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Survey to provide extremely valuable insight to a successful RFP process.  Congratulations to all of the providers ranked this year.”

HRO Today and CSS Release Pre-employment Screening Study
Nearly One Third of Employers Don’t Screen for Trouble

Philadelphia, PA – July 25, 2017 – HRO Today and Comprehensive Screening Solutions (CSS) have announced the release of its pre-employment screening study:  Catch Me if You Can – How to Choose the Best Pre-employment Screening Solution.

The stakes are higher now for companies than they’ve ever been.  In a tight labor market, there’s enormous pressure to hire more employees quickly, while data and physical security remain paramount.

At the same time, this study’s findings concluded that there is a lack of quantification about the impact of background screening providers.  More than three-quarters of study respondents weren’t aware of any formal metrics for measuring the success of their background screening.

“This study also found something quite alarming,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research for SharedXpertise.  “Nearly one third of employers indicated that they don’t screen their candidates through background checking.”

“Respondents in this study also told us that background checks are five times more important than the second or third most important services, which are I-9 and E-verifications and ATS integrations,” said Mike Chalenski, President and CEO for CSS.  “Consolidation also remains a popular option, with about sixty-three percent of respondents indicating that screening services should be offered by one provider.”

About the Study

HRO Today conducted a study among those directly involved with selecting background providers for their organizations across the United States.  The study’s 100 respondents were screened to make sure they had a role with background screening service providers in their organization.  Respondents were selected from HRO Today’s magazine subscribers, e-newsletter subscribers, and association membership.

The exclusive report is available for download by clicking here.  For more information about SharedXpertise, visit www.hrotoday.com, or contact publisher Bill MacRae, at bill.macrae@sharedxpertise.com.

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study for First Quarter 2017
Index Increased for the Fifth Straight Quarter and Set a New Level

Philadelphia, PA – July 20, 2017 – HRO Today announced that it has released its Worker Confidence Index Study for the first quarter of 2017.

The Worker Confidence Index (WCI) – one of the key measurements covered in this study – increased for a fifth consecutive quarter to set a new level.  The index rose 3.1 points to 107.6 for the first quarter of 2017, which is 10.9 points higher than one year ago.

In addition, two out of the four components of the WCI – likelihood of promotion and raise – rose by more than nine points, while job stability and trust in leadership slightly declined.

“While these results could be considered encouraging, there are areas for improvement,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “For instance, there is a noticeable paradox happening.  Many of those feeling secure about their jobs are flourishing, and at the same time a growing number aren’t confident they wouldn’t lose their job.  The state of the economy overall also remains a concern.”

“It should be comforting for business leaders to see that their employees are feeling confident in the workplace,” said Andy Roane, Vice President of Recruitment Process Outsourcing, Yoh.  “However, this sets up additional challenges for companies looking for talent during a time of relatively low unemployment.  Happy, content workers are harder to recruit away from their current employer.  In order to retain and recruit the best employees, they must take a proactive approach to crafting a work experience, start to finish, that’s tailored to the demands of today’s workers.”

Study Background

In the Third Quarter of 2014, HRO Today magazine and Yoh Recruitment Process Outsourcing joined together and launched an index to measure employment security.  There was a need for a new index, as existing indices examined attitudes about the economy – such as the Consumer Confidence Index, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) or United States Consumer Sentiment – but these measures focused more on macro metrics.  They had much less emphasis on attitudinal measures of those employed.

HRO Today and WilsonHCG Release Study: Best Practices in Sales Recruiting Drive Time-to-Fill Down and Sales Up

Philadelphia, PA – July 6, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and WilsonHCG, a leading global talent solutions provider, have announced the release of their study:  Best Practices in Sales Recruiting Drive Time-to-Fill Down and Sales Up.

This exclusive study shows that while most HR professionals know the cost per hire of a sales representative, they are in the dark about the cost of not hiring quickly and also struggle with knowing how to hire the right sales representatives.

“The impact of hiring the right sales people at the right time cannot be emphasized enough,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “We provide a useful calculator inside this report to help human resource practitioners determine the costs of not hiring the right sales people for their organization.”

“Sales is critical to driving a company’s top-line revenue and impacts all areas of an organization,” said Craig Sweeney, Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Talent Solutions, WilsonHCG.  “We’d like to further empower human resource professionals with the tools and processes that assist them in improving their sales recruiting while boosting business objectives.”

This report includes a sales recruiting calculator that provides the ability for talent acquisition leaders to input their own company’s data and more closely approximate the impact on revenue of unfilled sales territories.

HRO Today and Allegis Global Solutions Release APAC Study:  Growth of Freelancers and Best Practices for Attracting Them

Philadelphia, PA – June 13, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and Allegis Global Solutions, a leading provider of global talent solutions, have announced the release of the study:  Growth of Freelancers and Best Practices on How to Attract Them.

This exclusive report reveals that the APAC region is growing rapidly, with nearly one-half of respondents anticipating their use of freelancers will increase within the next 24 months.  The use of freelancers over the prior two years has also increased, as nearly a quarter of respondents reported an increase during that time.

“We found in this study that there are myriad factors that most attract freelancers, but for most, higher pay isn’t one of them,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “Flexibility was cited by 85 percent—by far the most cited factor—followed by the chance for more interesting projects and clearly defined project specifications.”

“This study also helps us identify which roles freelancers can fill and how we might best reach them,” said Craig Fisher, Head of Global Marketing, Allegis Global Solutions.  “To help further, Allegis has been at the forefront of providing localized expertise and services that help employers connect with the right employees, and we pride ourselves on specializing in the APAC market.”

This study is the first in a series of HRO Today Flash Reports.  These reports discuss the results of research and editorial papers that address today’s topics of interest in the HR community, and can be leveraged to support business decisions and to spark discussions among human resource practitioners and thought leaders globally.

HRO Today and WilsonHCG Release EMEA Study:  How to Use Talent Acquisition Analytics to Make Better Business Decision

Philadelphia, PA – June 8, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and WilsonHCG, a leading global talent solutions provider, have announced the release of their study for the EMEA region:  How to Use Talent Acquisition Analytics to Make Better Business Decisions.

This exclusive report shows which analytics HR professionals say are the best indicators of success when evaluating their talent acquisition programmes.  The study also indicates that all too often talent acquisition analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) are not aligned with long-term goals and objectives.

“Interestingly, we found that nearly one-half of respondents said they were entirely focused on short-term goals,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “A talent acquisition model that is only moderately integrated into the larger HR strategy cannot fully support the overall strategy for the business.”

“Evaluating and understanding your talent acquisition analytics is paramount to maintaining and growing a healthy business,” said Craig Sweeney, Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Talent Solutions, WilsonHCG. “Across the EMEA region, it’s important for organisations to benchmark themselves internally and against their peers to set short- and long-term business decisions that drive positive outcomes.”

This study is the third in a series of HRO Today Flash Reports.  These reports discuss the results of research and editorial papers that address today’s topics of interest in the HR community, and can be leveraged to support business decisions and to spark discussions among human resource practitioners and thought leaders globally.

HRO Today Announces MSP Baker’s Dozen Rankings

May 5, 2017 – Philadelphia, PA – HRO Today has announced its 2017 managed service programs (MSP) Baker’s Dozen rankings.  The rankings were revealed on May 3, 2017, at an exclusive presentation during the HRO Today Forum North America in Chicago.

To determine the rankings, HRO Today collects feedback through an online survey that is distributed both directly to buyers through HRO Today’s mailing lists and indirectly by sending service providers the link to send to their clients.  Responses are scored for each provider that has a statistically significant sample, and ten responses are required from eight companies.  Results are analyzed across three subcategories:  features breadth, deal sizes, and quality.  Using an algorithm that weighs questions and categories based on importance, scores are calculated in all three subcategories and for the overall score.

The rankings for the overall score category are:

  1. PeopleScout
  2. Pontoon Solutions
  3. Bartech/Guidant Group
  4. Agile·1
  5. AMN Healthcare
  6. Geometric Results, Inc. (GRI)
  7. Advantage xPO
  8. Yoh
  9. Superior Group
  10. Cross Country Healthcare
  11. ZeroChaos
  12. Acro Service Corporation

“This MSP ranking is the most respected and most anticipated ranking of its kind annually in the HR industry,” said Elliot Clark, CEO of SharedXpertise and HRO Today.  “Leading companies seeking contingent managed service partners consider the information provided in the HRO Today Magazine MSP Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Survey to provide invaluable insight to a successful RFP process.”

HRO Today and PeopleScout Release APAC Study:  Candidate Attraction and Assessment Using Gamification

Philadelphia, PA – May 5, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and PeopleScout, a leading provider of recruitment process outsourcing solutions, have announced the release of the study:  Candidate Attraction and Assessment Using Gamification in APAC.

This exclusive report shows that the use of gamification in HR is still in its infancy in the APAC region and varies among individual countries.  However, it has appeal in both talent acquisition and employee training programs, and is primarily used as a tool for building the company’s talent pool.

“Interestingly, we found that Millennials are the group most exposed to gamification, particularly males,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “The concept is an outgrowth of video games, so companies naturally want to interact with candidates in a way that’s familiar to them.”

“A common application of gamification is building the size of the talent pool,” said Nicole Cook, Managing Director, PeopleScout.  “This is related to keeping candidates engaged, as a way to build the talent pool through continuous contact with the prospect.  When an opportunity arises, the right candidates can be notified.”

This study is the second in a series of HRO Today Flash Reports.  These reports discuss the results of research and editorial papers that address today’s topics of interest in the HR community, and can be leveraged to support business decisions and to spark discussions among human resource practitioners and thought leaders globally.

The Millennial generation, generally defined as those between 18 and 34, already accounts for approximately 50 million workers in the United States, or 25 percent of the workforce, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.  That number will increase substantially in the next five to 10 years.  Understanding and communicating with this group properly will be a competitive advantage.

“We found in this study that while there are differences between Millennials and other generations, what Millennials want can be considered preferences across candidates from all generations,” said Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research, SharedXpertise.  “What Millennials say they want most includes a good benefits package, a positive work environment and fair compensation, and what becomes different with Millennials is how those preferences are combined.”

“What the study helps us identify is exactly which areas we can focus on to improve the recruitment and retention of Millennials,” said Laurie Harms, Director of Business Development, Advantage xPO.  “For instance, while collaboration, workplace flexibility and recognition appeal to workers of all generations, Millennials would like a greater emphasis on diversity and short-term goals.”

The report also revealed that opportunities for international relocation should be highlighted to Millennial candidates when they exist.

HRO Today Releases Worker Confidence Index Study for Fourth Quarter 2016
Employee Worker Confidence Index is Strongest in Study’s History

Philadelphia, PA – March 21, 2017 – HRO Today announced that it has released its Worker Confidence Index Study for the Fourth Quarter of 2016.

The Worker Confidence Index – one of the key measurements covered in this study – increased to its highest level since the study’s inception, up 4.6 points to 104.5 in the fourth quarter.  Additional index components were also up, with job confidence, likelihood of a raise, and trust in leadership all up more than 10 points.

The increase in the index throughout the entire year of 2016 suggests optimism about employees’ faith in their employment situation, and job-loss confidence also corresponds with the U.S. unemployment rate drop to 4.7 percent.

“In many ways, 2016 was tumultuous,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “The Dow closed out its best year since 2013, up 13.4 percent.  But, the result of the presidential election was both surprising and polarizing, and traditionally the market doesn’t like surprises.  How the election results impact 2017 remains uncertain.”

“Over the course of the past two years, we’ve seen that worker confidence correlates quite closely with the health of the financial markets and, increasingly, with the health of the employment market,” said Andy Roane, vice president of recruitment process outsourcing, Yoh.  “With the most significant increase in ‘perceived likelihood of promotion’ coming from those under age 35, it should be comforting to HR to see employees are feeling confident in their work environments early in their careers.  However, it’s critical that companies dedicate the same time and resources to long-term workers as they do to new and prospective employees.”

HRO Today and Alexander Mann Solutions Release Study: How HR Plans to Overcome Barriers to Innovation

Philadelphia, PA – March 9, 2017 – SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, have announced the release of the study:  How HR Plans to Overcome Barriers to Innovation.

This exclusive report reveals which innovation concepts are most relevant to the talent acquisition function, and which areas of innovation HR practitioners are planning to focus on this year.

Learn what areas HR professionals have indicated that they are considering in order to start driving change at their organizations, including workforce planning strategies, predictive data and analytics, and the use of several types of business metrics.

This is part two of a study commissioned by Alexander Mann Solutions and HRO Today to explore the frequent instances of “non-novation” – a newly-coined term to describe what happens when the pursuit of driving new and meaningful change is detoured and does not come to fruition.

“This is an exciting time to work in HR and talent acquisition,” said Jerry Collier, director of global innovation at Alexander Mann Solutions.  “Accelerating digital, video, analytics and cognitive technologies, when combined with new service delivery models and changing workforce demands, represent a massive opportunity for us all.  This study starts to explore how companies can transform from non-novation—standing still and observing—to cultivating an environment of super-charged and systematic innovation.”

“This is a comprehensive report that is the culmination of work done over the course of nearly one year,” said Larry Basinait, vice president of market research, SharedXpertise.  “Interestingly, candidate engagement techniques associated with candidate experience were the concepts that garnered high interest among study participants, and simplified applications and automated onboarding were the first and third most frequently cited techniques.”
