RPO Provider Kenexa to Acquire Software Maker Webhire

Wayne, PA-based Kenexa, a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) provider, will acquire Webhire, a maker of recruitment software, for $34 million in cash. Webhire, whose customer base includes mid-market and healthcare markets, is based in Lexington, MA.

The transaction is expected to close in January 2006 and is subject to approval by Webhire’s stockholders.

Webhire, formerly Restrac, has more than 200 customers from a variety of industries. Its products are used to help customers attract, hire, and retain employees.

“We believe Webhire has outstanding product offerings, as well as penetration into several of Kenexa’s key markets, such as healthcare,” Kenexa CEO Rudy Karsan stated. “This acquisition not only brings Webhire’s innovations to Kenexa’s talent management suite, it also adds talented, experienced resources to our organization that can support the needs of our growing customer base through extreme service.”

Karsan added that the acquisition will enable Kenexa to recognize operational efficiencies through combined R&D, product management, and sales and marketing. Additionally, he said customers will benefit from additional products that the combined organization will be able to deliver.
